About the School Advisory Council

Thank you for your ongoing support of our School!

The Norman Ingram School Advisory Council (SAC) meets several times throughout the school year and follows the guidelines set out by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) regarding roles and responsibilities, elections, and membership. The SAC is a volunteer organization comprised of parents/guardians of students at Norman Ingram Public School. Our focus is to enhance our children’s school experience, foster a strong & supportive school community, and raise funds to purchase additional programs and items (not funded by the TDSB) to enrich the curriculum. We also plan and host social activities that encourage community spirit within the school.

Attending Council meetings is your best way to stay informed of what's happening in & around our school – each meeting features a report from the Principal on Board activities, staffing, funding, general school events and initiatives. School Advisory Council may make recommendations to the Principal or to the Board on any matter. School Boards and Principals must consult with School Advisory Councils on matters that affect student learning; consider their recommendations; and report back to them on how they plan to act on their advice.

We work together in support of each of Norman Ingram's "Five Pillars":

The Arts: Providing students with in-school events each year focusing on the Arts (Visiting Authors, Plays/Performances, Creative Workshops)

Sports & Excursions: Fund ongoing maintenance & upgrade of equipment, transportation, field trips (Sports Equipment, Class Trips, Grade 5 Overnight Excursion)

Technology: Support short and long term maintenance of and investment in classroom e-learning tools (iPads, Chromebooks, Learning Boards, Media Equipment & Peripherals)

Outdoor Learning Space: Fund the ongoing development of our Outdoor Learning Space including addition of Outdoor Classrooms, upgrades to outdoor equipment, and replacement of the outdoor playscape

Enhancing our Classrooms: Annual funding per classroom for teachers to create engaging learning programs through additions of new equipment and resources (Educational Games, STEM Resources, Flexible Seating materials)
